Hi Stefan

Before I do this, is there a possibility you will be able to convert lambda readings to AFR (preferably to 1 decimal point)?  Or can this be uploaded some time in the future?

Thanks for all the work you have already done.  I know I have taken up a lot of your time

I haven't done this yet but I guess you use the same method for adding labels as before? - ie type them into the Configurator?

Sounds nice and easy Stefan, and thanks for your advice.  However, I tried this procedure on my TT and it didn't work with either Snake or graphs.  I tried several times but no luck

Sorry - it's taken me a while to get around to this.  The start logo works fine (I assume - just a static picture of a gecko and the word Audi).

The snake game comes up on the screen, the opening graphic fades up the screen, then nothing happens until a small square appears in the bottom right hand corner.  Then GAME OVER immediately appears on the screen.

It does not respond to any of the buttons on the stalk and no lines appear so I guess the game doesn't work.  Can this be the same problem as the line graphs?

Thanks Stefan.  I'll try this in the next week or two.

I should have done it before loading the labels, but only spotted it in the latest User Manual after I had done that little job

I've just been looking at the latest User Manual and discovered a facility named Collections.  This allows the user to display six values from different Groups at the same time .

I wanted to do this so I could have more than one value on the screen but this was not possible unless you used Overview, meaning all your values had to be from the same Group.  There are no groups in my ecu that have four values that would be useful to have on the screen.  So this must be a firmware update?

Is it possible to upload it to my FIS-Control?  My screen is monochrome (but not missing any pixels...)

Vorsprung durch Technik!!

Hooray!!  I have at last successfully transferred and saved the data to FIS-Control.   I deleted all the .DAT files and partial downloads, and when I established the Bluetooth connection discovered I had a third COM Port.  So I used that port and as soon as I went into Transfer - Send, it appeared it was using the CRC protocol (I didn't change anything).

The data was quickly transferred.  However, I found that the labels only appear if you are in Single Measurement view, and they appear under the value, not at the top of the screen.  So I changed the View setting for all my presets to Single Measurement.

Now I can play around with the different views to get the optimum setup.

Thanks for sticking with me Stefan - this has been quite an adventure and has required a lot of patience from both of us.

I'm going to start a couple more threads shortly, but hopefully they will take less time to resolve!

Final word: I went back to File Explorer on my laptop to see which .DAT files were left - the ones I had deleted had all returned, but with different extensions!!  Work that one out

I found out that the reason the files weren't downloading was that all the previous files I'd tried to download were in a queue also waiting to download (I don't know why...)

Once I deleted all the files in the queue, I saved/downloaded the latest file successfully.  I will try and transfer it soon.

However, I think the next problem is going to be that when sending data from the computer (as opposed to receiving it), the system defaults to checksum.  There is no facility on the Send menu to change checksum to CRC like you can in Receive.

I again went to the TeraTerm Help menu but of course it is empty...

I assume it's not going to transfer data with checksum?  How can I change this to CRC?  Or is there another way?  The file is all ready to go

Two further problems Stefan:  I opened and completed the file you sent (ie added all the rest of the labels, groups and values etc exactly as you did).  Then I tried to save it to my TeraTerm 4.92 Folder, but it said it could not download it.  I tried twice, and then looked in the folder.  The files were in there, but had different names and said they were partially downloaded.  The original file was there too - where I had first saved it.  But it was empty.

Then I tried to transfer one of the files via Tera Term but when sending it defaults to checksum.  There's no way of changing it back to CRC.

So once again, nothing happened

I've just realised why the battery went flat the other day - I spent several hours in the car with the ignition and radio on. And the electrically-heated seats were also switched on from my trip home the previous night.

I thought it was a bit stuffy inside the car but it's getting into mosquito season so I couldn't drop the roof smile

Thanks.  I'll try that file as soon as I can find the time.

If that is successful, can I enter the rest of the labels into that file and transfer it to FIS-Control again?

Explanation:  The first file used to contain one row with a label.  That worked briefly (at the bottom of the screen) then never again.
The second used to contain two rows with labels but they never appeared on the screen.
The others all contained two rows which never appeared on the screen.
The "partial" files did not transfer properly.
I don't know what happened to the data I inserted.  I did not touch any other fields other than the labels fields at the bottom of the page

Sixth and last

The fifth (it doesn't recognise this file for some reason = "You did not select a file for upload")

The fourth (it seems to be a "partial download")

Here's the third

Here's the second

Stefan
I have tried opening all the files in my folder with Configurator.  Some have one or two labels the first time I open them, the next time no labels.
I have never enabled any USER MODS.  I'm still learning to walk.
I will send you the files one at a time as I can't send them all together.  This seems to be one weird system.
Here's the first one

I can't open most of these files as they don't open with any of the available apps.  I think I can open the .config files but not the .dat files or the ones with no extension like this one.

However, it should have data in the first line of Labels (down at the bottom) including Controller (01 - engine), Group and Value numbers and "Coolant Temp" in the Labels field.

I'll send you another one tonight from my laptop at home.  I'm sorry Stefan - this is all beyond my level of expertise

Hi Stefan

I can't send attachments via email on the forum and it seems I can only attach one file at a time on this system.

Here is the first successful file I transferred to FIS-Control.  None of the later ones transferred properly.  Do you want the later files as well?  I think I would have to send them one by one.

At the moment I have no labels at all on the screen.  In the car I mean

Kerry

More hours sitting in the car trying to get my laptop to communicate with the car...

The good news is my com ports came back. Sometimes #3 works, sometimes #4.  No consistent pattern.

I deleted all my previous files and started again exactly as the video showed.  Suddenly FIS-Control was sending data to my laptop.  I opened the file and entered two labels at the bottom of the Configurator page as in the video, saved the file, and uploaded it to FIS-Control.  No problems.  I saved the new settings.

The bad news? No labels on the screen.

I switched off the ignition and tried again.  One of the two labels appeared briefly right at the bottom of the screen, then disappeared.  The top of the screen was empty except for "21 C" (coolant temp) as before.  The second preset (oil temp) had no label at all.

I tried again several times during the afternoon, saving new labels in the Configurator but it would not save the new data I entered no matter what I called the file or where I tried to save it.  After about three hours with the ignition (and the radio) switched on, the battery went flat.

I will try again next weekend.  The most disappointing thing is that it sort of worked - accepted one of the new labels but put it in the wrong place and it was only temporary.  I was hoping it would appear permanently next to the Water Temp reading at the top of the screen until I changed to the next preset.  Surely this is how it is supposed to work?

Anyway - a little progress!

Thanks Stefan.  Unfortunately, your new video still doesn’t address the problem: I no longer have any com ports.

I have tried opening a new connection in Tera Term, but the only option it gives me is TCP/ICP.  I can’t choose Serial because the box is greyed-out.

If I try selecting Com Ports in Tera Term SetUp – Serial Ports, the top box is greyed-out because there aren’t any serial/com ports to choose from.

If I open Manage Bluetooth Devices (when in range of the car) it no longer finds anything to pair with or connect to.  I choose More Bluetooth Options – Bluetooth Settings – COM Ports and there are no com ports listed there.  They have gone.

My Com ports disappeared off my laptop a couple of weeks ago and even when I try and connect through Tera Term and Bluetooth they don’t return.

Of course, even before my com ports disappeared, FIS-Control still wasn’t transferring data.  Is that also a problem with the Com ports or  different one?

I don’t know why my com ports disappeared or where they went to, but it seems to be something to do with the process of communicating with the FIS-Control.

I’ve been trying to set this up for five weeks now.  Are we anywhere close to an answer please? Maybe it's a problem with my laptop or Windows 10?

It is difficult when we can only exchange one post per day (and none at weekends).  PLus I generally don't get much time during the week to experiment with this technology.

KM

As I said Stefan, they did appear when the laptop was paired with the FIS-=Control.  Then they disappeared and have not reappeared

Thanks Stefan.  However, please see previous post - I think the problem may be with the actual/virtual comports in Windows 10.  Some W10 users have complained they have no comports.  I used to have them, but they disappeared for a while.  Now they seem to have disappeared permanently.

This process will not work without comports.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Another question Stefan - when you are in TeraTerm, in the XMODEM Receive screen, it asks you for a filename to download the data to (about 1min 20 through the video).  You selected Downloads - settings.  But what file is this?  Did you create ityourself?  Or is it part of the TeraTerm suite of files?  Do you know what type of file it is?

I have tried creating a file called 'settings' and selected this file in TeraTerm but it doesn't download the data to that file (or to any other file).

Of course, this may be because of the COM Port problem...
